"THE CHARLIE WOBBLER"
I have a clear memory of being in my Grandfather Charlie Webb's boat at the age of 10 years old, under the Auckland Harbour bridge on one of our many fishing trips. He pulled out a home made lure and attached it to his line, dropped it to the bottom on a very stiff fibre glass rod and said "Like this Roddy". When the lure hit the bottom, he lifted the rod up then dropped it down, lifted again and bang! a nice snapper was brought to the boat. I was amazed! Back in his shed under the house, he showed me how he made them. I remember helping him to fold some copper sheet around some old lead he had found on his daily walks. I have tried to replicate this lure and get it back in action to honor his name and all he and my other grandfather taught me about fishing.
